It has been one month since Hellenismos.us went online, and what a month it has been. Hellenismos.us exists because we feel that there is an urgent need for networking, communication, and unity within our religious community. If this first month is any indication of our future success, then this website will have no problem accomplishing its mission. I want to thank all those who have taken time to visit, to join, to participate in our forum, and those who created blogs. We plan to share with you the incredible statistics from our first month, and share with you the positive direction we are going.
First, for our first month, we have 25 registered members, and most members seem to be from the USA, Canada, and Greece. For anyone who has ever created an interactive website, such as ours, they know that members are its lifeblood. The fact that we have been able to accrue members at close to one new member a day is just incredible. Based on this initial number, I am conservatively projecting a membership of 240 by the end of the year. This could become considerably higher if the site’s popularity increases.
The next nice bit of news is member usage. Within the forum area, we have a total of 327 posts, on 75 topics, across 22 forum boards. This is an incredible figure. While averaging more than 12 posts a day does not seem like much, as compared to other forums, when we look at the ratio of members to posts, we get an idea of how active the forum really is.
Of our 25 registered members, five have chosen to make use of our personal blogs. This has resulted in 46 individual blog posts, and 77 blog comments from both users and guests. Some of the posts have been instructional, others inspiring, and some seemed to stir the pot, but all have been very informative and insightful.
One area of the website that does not get much discussion is our link directory. Presently we list 75 active links, across 67 categories, providing easy access to resources related to modern Hellenismos and ancient Greek polytheism. Each of the website’s areas (forum, blogs, and directory) is moving Hellenismos.us in the direction of being one of the largest Hellenic Polytheist resources available, bringing practitioners of Hellenismos and the greater Hellenic community services and information.
Beyond the actual visible activity on the site, is the overall traffic created by the total usage from both guests and members alike. In the first month of operation, Hellenismos.us has averaged more than 100 unique visitors per day, and each visitor averages more than 60 page views per visit. This has incredibly given us an Alexa Traffic Ranking of 649,486.
To place this ranking in perspective, Yahoo is ranked #1, and across the whole web, there are over 70 million websites with over 19 billion pages of content. To be considered a top trafficked site, a website needs to be in the Top 100K, and to be one of the “big boys,” the site needs to be listed in the Top 1K. Our Alexa Traffic Ranking of 649,486 is not only incredible for a website that has only been online for one month, but also because it is a three month average. With Hellenismos.us having zero traffic in November and most of December, that places our actual rating for just the one month closer to 267,633. As a nitch site, this is an incredible statistic.
Again, I would like to thank all those who have made this website such a success, both our guests and our members. Hellenismos.us plans to continue to grow and expand, adding more features and sections. As we have stated before, Hellenismos.us has been built on the premise that: Without knowing that others exist, and where to find them, we are alone. It is our wish to create an atmosphere, that offers better communication, networking, and information sharing between the many Hellenic Polytheists in existence.
Thank you for your continued support.
May the light of the Gods shine upon you,
Timothy Alexander
