My Daily Coffee Ritual to Hestia and the Agathos Daemon

Everyday I worship and make offerings to Hestia and the Agathos Daemon. Here is my morning ritual to Hestia and the Agathos Daemon.

Every morning I have to make a mug, yes you read rightly a mug of coffee. I drink plunger coffee which means that I first need to brew my coffee for at least 5 minutes in my plunger.

In the time it takes me to brew my coffee I will go and quickly take a showering. While showering I visualize that I am cleansed off the miasma from the night.

As soon as I get out of the shower, dried myself and dress myself in the clean new clothing for the day I will then plunge the coffee ( ie:- push down the plunger ).

Then I will go to my kitchen window. On my kitchen window there is a candle burner with a single white candle inside. This represents Hestia. Beside this there is a small white snake sculpture ( of a snake coiled around an egg ) which represents the Agathos Daemon.

Then I hold up my mug in my left hand and the plunger coffee in my right hand and extend this skyward and look at the sky. This is my daily prayer to Hestia.

“Oh to you Hestia, daughter of Kronos, sister to Almighty Zeus, Queen of the Home and the Hearth, please hear my prayers. Thank you for watching over my family and home. Please continue to watch over my family and my home. With you I share the first portion of coffee ( while saying this I pour a portion of coffee, equal to two sips into my mug ), may this be pleasing to you. Thank you.”

After finishing this I extend my hands out of the window and pour the coffee out of the window onto the ground below.

After this, I continue, this time looking at the snake and pointing the plunger and the mug at the snake statue,

“To you Agathos Daemon, Good Spirit, Guardian Spirit, thank you for watching over me. Please continue to guide me and watch over me. With you I share this portion of coffee ( once again pouring an equivalent of two sips into the mug ). Thank you.”

Then I pour the coffee into the ground.

Then the remaining portion of coffee I pour into my mug and drink the remainder of the coffee.

I think this is wonderful. It clearly shows how truly simple it is to give offerings on a daily basis…in an orthopraxic way. Thank you, Astalon.
